According to a study published in the journal Paediatrics, COVID-19 mRNA vaccinations administered to young children (mostly those aged 4 and less) were found to be safe, with no signs of major adverse effects. This is the first study to analyze the adverse effects of mRNA vaccines in young children.

A review of over 245,000 doses showed that there was no indication of heart inflammation called myocarditis among the young vaccinated children. In the study, researchers from Kaiser Permanente and the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reviewed patient data for both the Pfizer and Moderna vaccinations from June 2022 to March 2023.

The study included a wide and diverse group of children. It analyzed 135,005 doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccination given to children aged 6 months to 4 years and 112,006 doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine given to children aged 6 months to 5 years.

The researchers combed through medical data for 23 major possible side effects, including blood clots, seizures, strokes, and brain inflammation. The findings of the study showed no safety concerns for any of the selected adverse side effects.

The study showed that there was no reason to be concerned about seizures following immunization, which has been observed after other standard childhood immunizations in infants under the age of two.
